NSDI Strategic Plan

New NSDI Strategic Plan - 2024

The FGDC has initiated a process to develop a new strategic plan for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).  The current NSDI plan will expire in 2024.  We plan to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders in the geospatial community to develop a new strategy that includes a national vision and goals and objectives for the continued and sustainable development of the NSDI.

FGDC will provide multiple opportunities for input and involvement in the development of the new strategic plan, including public meetings of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC) as well as sessions at professional conferences and other opportunities.

We will update this page with additional information about public involvement opportunities as the strategic planning process advances. If you have questions or comments about the NSDI plan, please contact us at fgdc@fgdc.gov.

Current NSDI Strategic Plan

The current NSDI plan, which covers the years 2021-2024, was approved by the FGDC Steering Committee in November 2020.  The plan was developed with inputs from a variety of sources, including FGDC agencies, the NGAC, and geospatial partner organizations. The plan describes a broad national vision and mission for the NSDI and includes goals and objectives for the development of the NSDI.
