The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Geospatial Management Office (GMO) is committed to enabling implementers of the DHS Geospatial Data Model (DHS GDM) v1.2 with practical tools and solutions.

A new Oracle Spatial 10g user implementation guide, an open-source JAVA-based data migration tool (ESRI Shapefile to Oracle Spatial 10g), and a data dictionary have been added to the DHS GDM v1.2 suite of
solutions.  With this release, DHS allies receive very practical tools designed to accelerate implementation of the DHS GDM v1.2.

The DHS GDM is a standards based, logical data model to be used for collection, discovery, storage, and sharing of homeland security geospatial data. The model will support development of the Department's services-based geospatial architecture, and will serve as an extract, transform, and load (ETL) template for content aggregation.
