- The following is an outline of the process used by the Standards Working Group in the review of (1) standards proposals, (2) committee draft standards prior to public review, and (3) proposed standards prior to final FGDC endorsement. Reviews by the Standards Working Group take place at steps 2, 6, and 10 of the FGDC standards development process. - Directive # 3, Public Review Process
- This guidance outlines the process of preparing a standard's proposal or a draft standard for public review and handling the comments received during the public review period. The responsibilities of the sponsoring subcommittee or working group, the Standards Working Group, and the FGDC Secretariat are addressed.
- Directive #4, Guide to Completing a Standards Proposal
- This guide outlines the different parts of a FGDC standards proposals and explains what information is required in each part. Proposals for FGDC standards may be submitted by any FGDC subcommittee or working group, any agency of the Federal government, State or local government agencies, or national or regional government councils. Proposals will also be considered from non-government groups such as professional societies, private companies, and consortia which participate with the FGDC in the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure. (FGDC Standards Reference Model March 1996) Proposals may be for the development of a new standard, or the adaption or adoption of an existing standard.
