Format for Agency Reports - FY 2001
The following outline should be used by FGDC Member Agencies (or Bureaus) for their Annual Spatial Data Reports, which will be consolidated by the FGDC and submitted to OMB. Reports should be brief, using bullets where possible. Please provide only the information that will be useful for OMB to assess the agencies' achievements using the funding they received, and for establishing future direction.

6. Goals and Accountability: Are you using spatial data with regard to performance?
Yes. Goals and accountability implicitly involve use of spatial and spatially referenced data.

- Increase Availability of Decent, Safe, and Affordable Housing in American Communities
- Ensure Equal Opportunity in Housing for all Americans
- Promote Housing Stability, Self-Sufficiency and Asset Development of Families and Individuals
- Improve Community Quality of Life and Economic Vitality
- Ensure Public Trust in HUD
b. List agency GPRA performance measures specifically related to spatial data activities (or "none"):
- The number, quality, and accessibility of jobs increase in low-income urban and rural communities
- Housing discrimination is reduced
- Low income people are not isolated geographically in America
- Disparities in homeownership rates among racial and ethnic groups are reduced
- Affordable rental housing is available for low income households
7. Strategy: Has your agency prepared a strategy for advancing geographic information and spatial data activities in coordination with the FGDC strategy, pursuant to Circular A-16?
Not at this time. HUD is interested in reviewing examples from other agencies.
8. Standards: Has your agency developed and/or adopted appropriate standards?
Standards have been adopted but not fully implemented. Metadata in HUD's new Enterprise GIS follows the FGDC standard.
9. Metadata: Is your agency's metadata and/or data available and discoverable online through an NSDI-compatible clearinghouse node registered as part of the NSDI Clearinghouse Network?
Data and metadata for many HUD datasets are available on the Geography Network, others will be added on a continuous basis.
10. Vertical and Horizontal Data Integration: Is your data integrable with other Federal agencies and other sources of data (State, County, local, private)?
Yes. HUD's EGIS is an example of a working partnership between Census, FEMA, EPA, and HUD. All data can be downloaded and integrated with local applications. HUD is in the early stages of implementing data integration with local data.

12. Are there areas or issues regarding spatial data that require attention, or lessons-learned that you would like to share with others? Please describe.
Building an EGIS application has demonstrated benefits of horizontal integration. HUD will be developing a Data Partnership White Paper which will be presented to the federal CIO Council at the end of October. This paper will highlight lessons learned in the area of horizontal and vertical integration (e.g., local, state, federal)
