CIESIN will be conducting training on the preparation of geospatial metadata in three sessions. The training will focus on the Content Standard for Digital Geospatial metadata. An overview of international metadata standards, clearinghouse nodes and gateways will also be given. Support for these courses is provided by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Cooperative Agreement Program.
No registration fees. In most cases, travel costs will be the responsibility of participants.

The New York area training session (fall 2001 at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University) has no restrictions on applicants. A second training session in the New York area (yet to be scheduled) will be open only to members of Chinese data centers associated with the Chinese Association of GIS. The training session in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (October 2001) is open only to participants in the 2001 Open Meeting of Global Environmental Change Research Community.
