Bureau of Land Management's Oregon State Office is hosting a Train the (metadata) Trainer workshop December 1-3, 2009 in Portland, Oregon. The registration for this workshop is reserved for BLM personel and partners. Lynda Wayne, GeoMaxim-FGDC and Viv Hutchison, USGS-NBII are the trainers for this event. Train the Trainer courses require existing knowledge of geospatial metadata standards. Train the Trainer Workshops are designed to give participants the tools they
need to lead successful workshops. In this two and a half day workshop,
participants will learn techniques and skills that can be used to make their
future training session informative and worthwhile. Suggestions for creating a
positive learning environment, such as "ice-breaker" games and situational role
plays are passed on to participants. Other techniques such as how to create a
constructive lesson plan and positive ways to handle disruptive students are
also introduced. Students will have an opportunity to put
their new training skills into practice during various demonstrations and
interactive presentations focused around the metadata topic. Train the Trainer participants complete the workshop
prepared with new teaching techniques and an outline for a constructive lesson
plan for training sessions they will teach in the future.
