Thursday, August 23, 8:30 a.m. - noon

A follow-up to Wednesday’s (10:30 a.m.-noon)  manager-oriented Metadata Best Practices Session, the workshop provides an opportunity for participants to ‘go deeper’ in preparing for the adoption and implementation of the North American Profile of the International (ISO) metadata standard. Introduction to Framework Data, Concepts, Standards and Applications
Thursday, August 23, 1:30 -4:00 p.m.

The Framework Data Standard was developed to facilitate the exchange of orthoimagery, cadastral, geodetic control, elevation, hydrography, transportation (roads) and governmental unit geospatial data. The workshop focuses on implementation of the Framework Data Standard and introduces training materials developed by the University of Wyoming as part of the NSDI Training Program.

Materials can be downloaded in advance at:

  • Workshop Workbook [ftp://ftp.wygisc.uwyo.edu/pub/gis/sgl55/]
Note: Right-click on “Framework Data Workbook.ppt”, and select ‘Save Target As”. If prompted for a login, select the Login Anonymously option and leave the Password field blank. Once downloaded, select ‘Notes Page’ format when printing to get the entire workbook.

No fees or registration are required for either workshop. To ensure that sufficient training materials are available, participants are encouraged to:

  1. Download and print their own workshop materials, as indicated above
  2. Bring their own laptop (if possible).

More information about each workshop is available at the URISA 2007 Annual Conference - Thursday Program website (http://www.urisa.org/annual/thursday). Certificates of Participation will be provided participants for use in their GISCI Application or Certification Renewal Portfolios.
