Background: Held two sessions at ESRI Federal Users Conference in February determining the viability of archiving GIS data. Determined the current state and probable steps needed to be incorporated into an archival profile. Began process of involving OGC in the development of an archival profile for GIS data.

Objectives: Begin process of developing an archival profile for GIS data, using GML and Simple Features profile.

Benefits or Justification/Legal Mandate: Establishes nonproprietary format for preserving GIS data over the long term.

Scope of Work: Identify willing participants from HDWG to work with members of OGC.

Background: The two federal agencies joined the Geospatial One Stop (GOS) as data stewards for the Historical Collections community.

Objectives: Develop a presence on Geospatial One Stop portal.

Benefits or Justification/Legal Mandate: Meets NARA and LOC negotiated understanding with the Office of Management and Budget for the fiscal year.

Scope of Work: Develop necessary technical and content expertise within agencies. Create language identifying community for introduction pages and add material to site under the community.
