Background:
The primary goal of the Federal Geographic Data Committee’s (FGDC) Subcommittee for Cadastral Data is to work in collaboration with cadastral data producers and stakeholders to implement standards and facilitate the sharing of cadastral data as part of the efforts to support a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). Through collaborative efforts, the Subcommittee will facilitate the sharing of current and accurate cadastral data in support of a host of applications including economic development, maintaining the quality of life and managing or emergency situations (e.g., wildland fire, flooding etc.).
Objectives for 2007:
Facilitate the Sharing of Cadastral Data to Support Specific Business Needs
Facilitate the Establishment and Recognition of Standard Data Sets
Provide Education and Training for Cadastral Data
Complete and Update the National Inventory of Cadastral Data
Scope of Work:
The scope of work in 2007 will focus on the data needs of priority applications including wildland fire and energy development/management. In addition, 2007 will initiate the establishment and endorsement of standard sets of cadastral data for the PLSS and update the national inventory for cadastral data.
Milestones, Schedule, and Budget:
The limited amount of funding as well as the reliance on partnerships and collaboration to complete tasks requires flexibility in the use of resources, funding, and schedules to complete action items and meet schedules. The budget to support these efforts remains uncertain.
- Update the cadastral/parcel data inventory (classify ability to support wildland fire applications in 2007) Begin – January Finish - May
- Pre-deploy standard parcel data sets for 2007 fire season in the western states Begin – March Finish - August
- Evaluate alternatives for fire applications when parcel data is not available. Begin – February Finish - September
- Establish standard PLSS data sets in 3 western states and one eastern state. Begin – January Finish - December
- Establish common control and concepts for working between cadastral data on other related themes such as boundaries. Begin – January Ongoing
- Provide PLSS Training to the Bureau of Census. To be Determined
- Finalize the Cadastral Data Profile for Energy To be Determined
