All workshops are designed as one day events but content is regularly
expanded or reduced to meet specific client needs.
Abstract:
INTRODUCTION TO METADATA
Introduction to the concept, principles, and value of metadata. Detailed
review of the CSDGM and available software tools. Methods for writing
quality metadata and making metadata part of the data development process.
Hands-on metadata creation and validation options.
TRAIN THE METADATA TRAINER
Introduction to the elements of metadata workshop design. Detailed review
of methods for: establishing instructional objectives, selecting appropriate
training methods, developing supporting materials, creating student
exercises and overall workshop design. High level of student participation.
Requires familiarity with the CSDGM.
WRITING QUALITY METADATA
An advanced metadata creation course. Focuses on understanding difficult
sections of the CSDGM, best practices when producing metadata, and methods
for avoiding common metadata errors. participants create functional
metadata template specific to their discipline or organization. Requires
an operational understanding of the CSDGM.
