Abstract:

Course includes the following topics: What metadata is, Purpose of metadata, Metadata standards, Why they are necessary, the FGDC metadata standard (Composition, How to read and use it, How to create metadata to comply with the standard), Tools that help create metadata, making templates, validation tools, and the FGDC metadata Clearinghouse.

Costs:

No cost to the student if class is held at the USGS office in Rolla MO. If class is to be held elsewhere, cost may include trainer's travel expenses.

Mid-America GIS Symposium 2000, Tan-ta-ra, Missouri, Spring, 2000
Several classes at the U.S. Geological Survey, Rolla, MO over the past 3 years - both groups and individual training

Attended FGDC training courses including basic metadata and train the trainer classes (Frankfort, KY; Columbia, MO; Rolla, MO)

Participated in several metadata working groups within the USGS
