Metadata Trainers: Edith Konopka
WORKSHOPS
Duration:
One day of lecture and computer exercises; additional optional half-day

Abstract:
At the present time we run a 1-day class and a .5-day
workshop giving hands-on training on the FGDC-CSDGM, the use of the
ArcCatalog FGDC Editor, the use of the MP validation service and its
results, and the interaction of metadata with the New Jersey geospatial
portal, NJGIN Explorer. Training sessions are run about every 1.5 months,
in cooperation with staff from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection.
The training is aimed at State and Local government employees, and at
non-profit partners in the NJMapp ICAT program. Training also is open
to Federal government employees and non-government GIS providers who
furnish contract services and data to government entities.
Future plans include a course for New Jersey Geographic Information
Network node administrators, which will include additional metadata
training.

We currently host the described training in a computer classroom at
the NJOIT offices in Trenton. Participants must travel to Trenton at
the expense of themselves or their organization. There is no fee for
the training, but pre-registration is required.
