The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) held a NSDI Leaders Forum for leaders of key geospatial organizations and professional associations on March 7 to begin the development of an updated strategic plan for the advancement of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The objectives of the meeting were to:

• Share drivers, approach, and process for developing the strategic plan
• Solicit perspectives and build common understandings of the current state including trends, conditions, challenges and opportunities
• Share ideas for roles and responsibilities of the different sectors involved in geospatial activities
• Encourage support and involvement of association constituents
• Identify next steps and timeframe
