Topic: Metadata for the INSPIRE Directive in Europe (Agenda)

Abstract: The INSPIRE Directive (in Europe) lays down general rules to establish an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe for the purposes of Community environmental policies and policies or activities which may have an impact on the environment. Implementing Rules (IR, legal acts) have been created in various areas on what member state must fulfil in various areas related to the INSPIRE SDI. One of these Implementing rules is on metadata. The presentation will describe the IR Metadata and how this has been implemented within EU. Some of the topics are: how to handle multilingual GeoPortals, manage data-service coupling, understanding the intentions of standards (when they were written) and some issues on using standards from ISO and OGC together.
