Building and Maintaining a Map of Locations for Structures with Addresses
Award Number G10AC00206, Category 7: Demonstration of Geospatial Data Partnerships across Local, State, Tribal, and Federal Government
MassGIS will collaborate with its three regional planning agency partners to conduct a prototype project to comprehensively map structures in 7 communities covering about 100 square miles. The project will result in a data set of points for structures with addresses built using the USGS best practices data model for structures; the data set will contain a point for 99% or better of the addressed structures in each community; the project will also produce documented best practices for data development, hardware and software tools used for data update, and agreements and workflows with local officials. The experience from this project will support the development of best practices for maintenance work in the rest of the state and outside of Massachusetts, thus improving the currency of what’s available through The National Map.
