As one of the tasks sponsored by FGDC 08 CAP grant, we'll conduct metadata training to ESIP members during its summer meeting on 1) what is metadata and FGDC metadata, 2) how to create FGDC metadata, 3) how to get metadata created searchable through a searching engine.

This intensive will build the business case for metadata creation, outline the requirements to make metadata part of the process, provide an overview of the FGDC metadata standard, and provide hands-on experience with metadata creation software.
 
 
This workshop presents the value, concepts, and methodology of metadata in the context of GPS field data collection.

MAPPS 2008 Winter Conference will be held at the Westin Mission Hills Spa & Resort in Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs), CA January 31-February 2 2008.
This is a two-day training on the basic concepts of geospatial metadata.
